I, Dilbert

Our company HR head introduced me to Dilbert, the comic strip.
I really enjoyed it and started to identify myself with the hardworking protagonist. In the strip, though, the Evil HR Director is named Catbert.
Whenever there’s an opportunity to say it, I would tell her, “Very Catbert.”
“How about you? Wally?” She would fire back. Wally was the guy who always walk around with a coffee mug on his hand and does all the things possible to pass time.
“I’m not Wally. Im Dilbert,” I told her.

I would sometimes just call out, “Hey, Catbert.”
She regretfully would answer, “It’s obviously a mistake on my part introducing you to DILBERT.”

Dubai Marathon 2012

Last year I ran. This year I opt out but promised myself to do 10K next year.

Ronald, Atong, Julius and Patrick still did it for the 2nd consecutive year. Roliver, did it for the first time.

Before the marathon itself, they had to pick up their uniforms from Standard Chartered.

As usual, the photo maniacs on theses guys came out and they had to take all the possible photo-op.
Julius always handled the camera and wanted to join in to capture the moment.
He saw a fellow marathoner and asked him, “Can you take a picture of us?”
“Sure,” the African guy answered.
“Thank you.”

After the guy who took the photo left, one of the organizers told them, “Other people would ask a picture with that guy… that’s Chala Dechase…” and pointed at the poster, “But you asked him to take a photo of you.”

They were so embarrassed and laughing at the moment: A champion marathoner taking a photo of 3K runners.

Here’s the epic picture:

Sri Lankans From Sri Lanka

Ron-ron, our new new Tenor, just came from Sri Lanka as his company held their team building there.
Kathy asked, “Kamusta Sri Lanka? Ano ang tao dun?”
One of our choir mates answered, “Uhmmmm… Sri Lankan…?”

Peg 101

I have noticed that people nowadays are using the word “peg” a lot lately. In order to be in the in, I asked the expert in using the word.
I have sent Ella a Blackberry Message, “Ano ang tama? (1) Sandstorm ang peg ng Dubai; (2) Sandstorm ang peg ng weather; or (3) Sandstorm ang peg today.”
“Yung last,” she answered.
“:o” I replied. I was expecting the first one was it.
“Sandstorm ang peg today ;)”
“Di ko talaga gets!” I answered frustratingly.
“Haaay!” she answered.
I tried again, “Di n’ya nagets ang peg. Tama na?”
“MALI!”

Yesterday, I came to realization the real meaning of peg (thanks to Ron) so I tweeted…

Dollar ang peg sa Brunei.

McJeep

“Bawal kami pumasok sa McDo ng naka-uniform na,” Ronald was sharing his fast-food crew experience.  Apparently, the uniform gets dirty before arriving to the branch so it’s taboo to wear the uniform going there.
“Eh bawal ka naman talaga pumasok sa McDo ng pang-trabaho na kasi mascot ka….Imagine-in mo si Grimace magbabayad sa loob ng jeep.”
