What is Am?

Joy, one of my good friends, was invited by her classmates from Pampanga to sleepover in the province.

Joy was greeted warmly by the relatives of her classmate, but she felt uneasy when one of the people in that household offered her, “Joy, kain na may am d’yan.”

Joy smiled and said, “Ay sige po, hindi po ako kumakain ng am,” thinking that the hugas –bigas soup was one of the delicacies from Pampanga.

After a few moments she saw the am that was being offered… a fiesta ham.
