TBT #5: Use It!

Ponette just celebrated her 11th birthday last 20th September. Throwing back this blog entry from 2006.

My nieces and I were fooling around this morning. We played the GOING BULILIT use the word in a sentence and I initiated that we use their names.
I asked them, “Use Aki in a sentence.”
They all said, “USE IT!” like the kids in the TV show said it.
I sang the Itchy Worms song, “Aki ka na lang!” and Akemi immediately sings with me in the background and answered, “Aki ka na lang…”
I then asked them to, “Use Ponette in a sentence,”
They all said, “USE IT!”
I sang a tuneless song of “Ponette, ponette ponette.”
Ponette was not happy with this said, “Tito! Hindi ‘yan! Yung kay Beyonce,” and she sang “… Check on me tonight.”I immediately picked my brains up and realized she was right. She was singing a tune on the Pink Panther soundtrack CHECK ON IT:

Paglaki Ko…

“Ano gusto mo maging paglaki mo?” I asked Ponette, my 10 year old niece.
“Dolphin.”

“Magpinsan nga sila ni Miggy,” Tem butted in.
“Bakit?”
“Tinanong ko kasi si Miggy kung ano gusto n’ya maging paglaki n’ya… Gusto n’ya raw maging ANGRY BIRD.”

 

Tweet of the Week: Legs vs Ass

My niece tweeted this:

Me: nakakainis kayo, ang hahaba ng legs niyo. Ba’t ako lang panget legs!?
Pong: ok lang yan, baka kasi ikaw lang malaki pwet.

 

Skype Alternative

When topics run out when Skype-ing. My niece and I just go for the next best thing to do: Playing games.

I call this game PATAGALAN NA NAKATAAS ANG PAA. I lost.

 

Lolo and Shalani

When Ponette learned that she’s not coming back to the Philippines this coming school year she started to cry.
Her lola asked her, “Bakit?”
“Naalala ko kasi si Lolo,” she answered, “saka si Shalani,” her dog.

“Na-level pala kayo Tay sa aso,” I told my father later.
“Oo nga eh.”

 

It’s More Fun in the Philippines: Babysitting

We went to Pagsanjan today. Ponette asked me, “Tito, bakit tayong dalawa ang magkasama sa bangka?”
“Ayoko kasi kasama ang mga dalaga (referring to Sam and Paula). Kasi mga dalaga at graduating ang laging kinukuha ng mga diwata ng ilog,” I told her.

 

Crying Nieces

“Bakit kayo umiiyak?” I asked my nieces as I was about to go back to Dubai, “Kasi aalis na ako?”
“Hindi, Tito,” they all answered, “Kasi wala na kaming driver.”
“Yun lang ba ako sa inyo?” I asked angrily.
“Saka wala nang magandang laptop.”

 

Soccer Punch

“Bakit Sucker Punch?” Aki asked after buying tickets for the movie.
Ponette punched and kicked in the air, “Baka kasi sabay ‘yung soccer saka punch.”

 

Pong Sleep Over

“Ponette! Hangang kelan ka ba dito sa kama ko?” my Tatay asking my niece when would she stop sleeping over her lola’s bed.
“Lolo, huwag ka nang umasa. Habang buhay na ako dito.”

 

Singing Pong

I laughed my ass off seeing this status message of my 3rd year Highschool niece quoting her 2nd Grade sister.
