The people of Armenia looked at us awkwardly… staring at us blankly bordering to rudeness… from the airport up to the street of Yerevan. They may not be used to Asians visiting their place.
Their country is used to Russian tourists. Filipinos? Maybe not. One group of children even screamed, “Can we take a picture?”
“Jacky Chan!” screamed an old guy from the airport.
It’s laughable but not offensive. We almost felt like instant celebrities. Our faces literally stands out from the crowd.
One Russian tourist had the courage to ask, “Why are you here? Have you not visited Russia? You’re more than welcome in Moscow.”
On our first day, while we walked around Independence Square, I kept screaming to my group, “Guys! Guys! Blend in tayo! Dapat matangos din ilong natin.”
