Sound Engineer Offense

We sang at St. Mary’s Family Festival last Thursday. We were supposed to wear our CVC shirts but it was so cold that we all wore our coats over it.
When we were about to go on stage we removed our coats last minute and I suddenly hit the sounds engineer guy on the shoulders. He was a big Caucasian guy with tattoos and piercings.

“I’m sorry,” I told him.
“You will be.. in a minute,” he got back.
“Whoa!” I told him but he ignored this as he was busy. He seemed pissed.
Mabel heard this and asked, “WHAT DID HE SAY?” but we were about to go on stage.

I was mad. We are not used to this type of rudeness in Dubai. I also just met a car accident that morning so I was really not emotionally stable.
I shrugged it off because it was the church compound and I am representing our group –  going for this guy will be bad rep for us and will be dubbed as unchristian-like . (Plus it has been 3 months since I went to the gym and that he was bigger than me). takot ko lang

The performance was bad, just like every year (because the audience are hearing a lot of other things go on in the compound plus  the sound system was horrible (not boom microphones).

Kaya pala ‘We will be sorry in a minute’ kasi papangitan nya ang sound system.” I concluded.

Basha Broke My Heart

I posted this Facebook status last week:

Screen Shot 2014-01-12 at 11.23.33 AM

That’s a day before the dreaded accident. Spoke too soon.

1600120_10152515975739325_429021251_nI then put the damaged car’s photo as one of the comment. People panicked. A slew of comments came afterwards. After Mitch posted this comment: “It’s the 2nd time that Basha did break your heart. I know somebody who will not break your heart…” It made me think. Maybe naming the car Basha was an inevitable heartbreak. It was after all named after the character Basha in One More Chance. She had me at my best…

“Bakit napakatigas mo Bash?!”

Kamusta si Basha?

I was not hurt but seeing Basha get badly damaged was really heartbreaking. I kept saying, ‘Sorry Basha.’

It also does not help that my friends refer to my car as a person, “Kamusta si Basha?” It was heartbreaking.

When Basha was being towed (I was seated in the passenger side of the tow truck), I saw the car in the side mirror. It was as if saying, “Look what you have done to me.”

“Kamusta si Basha?” was everyone’s question.

They all laughed when they told the story to Rose and she asked a different thing, “Kamusta si Orlee?”
“Oo nga naman. Kamusta si Orlee?”

Car Accident!

They say ring in the new year with a bang and the events of 9th January holds true to that.

I was involved in a three way accident. I was sandwiched by a pick up truck and a 90s sedan type of car. It was very fortunate that no driver was harmed. I wish I could say the same for our cars but it was very bad. Basha was hit the worst, the axle of the wheels were not aligned and the front bumper fell off.

I took this photo and sent to my friends to keep them update:

In the evening, I asked Mitch how she felt at the moment.
“Natakot ako. I wanted to call you pero syempre alam ko busy ka with the police and all. Saka mas kakausapin mo yung mga may alam sa mga kotse issues,” she answered.
“Pero ano initial reaction mo?”
“Worried ako, kasi alam ko nangyari kay Basha pero ikaw naman, wala naman kaming idea.”
“Hindi ba FACT na yung nagsend ako ng picture means ok na ako?” I asked her.
“Malay ko ba kung gumagapang ka na sa kalsada tapos may dugo sa noo habang kinukunan mo si Basha,” she smilingly answered. She knew she was not getting away with that explanation.
“Mag-se-selfie pa ba ako sa kalsada kung gumagapang na ako? Di ko na rin makukuhanan si Basha nun.” My imagination was running wild: Imagine me crawling on the road side and aiming to take a shot at Basha from that angle.

Nothing Can Stop Bing from Shopping

Bing was sick the whole day yesterday. Her voice was hoarse and she was feeling weak. Knowing that plus the fact that it was the 2nd Dubai Shopping Festival weekend, she pursued her life long dream… shopping.

She was buying a bag when the kabayan cashier of STADIUM told her, “Ate… pahinga-pahinga pag may time.”

Thinspiration: Anne Curtis

Screen Shot 2014-01-04 at 10.31.25 PMI am so proud of Mitch whenever she can run without a break. Yesterday was 3.5K, today she broke that record by running a full 4K without slowing down for a walk.
Proud boyfriend told her afterwards, “Ang galing mo na hon. Bukas 4.5k? I was actually expecting na sa 2K palang maglalakad ka na…”
“Actually, Hon, ‘pag ako napapagod… Si Anne Curtis iniisip ko,” She answered.
I laughed, “S’ya talaga?”
“Kasi bakit sya payat? Or maliit ang braso.”

BugsLifeWallpaper800-300x225My laptop is filled with bugs.

Whenever I flip open the screen, cockroaches crawl out. I guess they like the darkness and warmth of the CPU under the keyboard.

I would need to debug the machine — literally.
