Driving Power

“Gusto ko tabi ni Tito,” Miguel cried as his mommy is not in the Philippines anymore.
“Sa tabi na lang ni Tita Chie?” we asked him. He ignored it.

“Parang alam n’ya kung sino ang in power. Marunong ata sumipsip,” I asked ate Richie.
“Baka dahil nag-da-drive ka?” Ate asked.
“Yun din ang iniisip ko eh,” I answered.
“Sige, bukas mag da-drive ako around Plaridel (Subdivision) isasakay ko s’ya para alam n’yang ako eh nag-da-drive din,”  ate Richie thought.
“Tama,” I answered, “Ibig sabihin ba nito eh dapat pinag-da-drive din natin si Jo (Yaya)?”

Gift for Lola

“Ano iuuwi natin sa lola mo?” my friends asked when I told them to buy something for me to give to my grandmother.
“Kayo na bahala. Babae kayo.  Alam nyo na dapat ‘yun,” I answered.
“Anti-aging kaya?” they asked.
“Ano ba!? Huli na ang lahat.”

Tem & Miggy: Huhuhu

Tem finally returned to Dubai while everyone was still here.
I saw her off in the airport together with Tatay, Nanay, Paula, Ponette and Tem’s little Miggy.
When it was about to say goodbye, Tem could only hug and kiss Miggy goodbye. My lightbulb lit and told myself: Photo Op!

After Tem got off the car, nanay sat beside me. I showed the picture. She cried. I told her, “Hehe. Sadista.”

At home, all my sisters were waiting for us, I immediately showed the picture to each one of them, “Eto lang maipapakita ko sa inyo.”
Tears fell from their eyes:  Sadista.
Nanay asked, “Ano ‘yun? Bakit sila umiiyak?”
“Yung picture ho,” I answered, “Gusto n’yo ulit makita?” then showed it to Nanay.
“Huhuhu!” Nanay answered while tears slowly fell from her eyes.
