Contest Piece

During this week’s American Idol performance episode, Jade commented, “Ano ba naman ‘yan!? Hindi naman pang-contest piece ang kinakanta n’ya,” referring to Big Mike‘s rendition of Eleanor Rigby.
It was Beatles Night (Lennon-McCartney Songbook) so they have no choice but to choose from that category.
I can’t help myself so I sarcastically defended, “Ano gusto mo? Isang Lahi?” A known favorite contest piece in Filipino Singing Contests.
Ronald seconded, on the same wavelength, “Hindi. Be My Lady?!”
